SMALL TOWN — CLINIC
The lack of medical care in the regions is a very imminent problem. Together with the representatives of the village of Strání, we tried to solve it with a new medical center, which should offer high-quality and modern facilities to both doctors and patients in the beautiful environment of the White Carpathian mountain foothills. It is a simple two-story building with an internal atrium, which is designed as energy positive.

ARCHITECTURE
The house is based on a simple grid of columns, which allows variable use of the interior. The basic module of the design is a doctor's office with a nurse, which is associated with a waiting room. There are a total of 6 such modules in the building. The interior spaces can be modified or expanded as needed. A smaller dental clinic with a shared reception can be built on the 2nd floor by merging the spaces. All interior spaces offer beautiful views of the surrounding houses and greenery. The interior rooms are oriented around an atrium that is open over two floors and topped by a skylight. The interior uses light plasters, wooden cladding, terrazzo tiles and colorful doors emphasizing the entrance to the surgeries.
SUSTAINABILITY
The house is designed in an energy active standard, which means that in total it produces more energy than it consumes. PV panels will be installed on the roof, the source of heating and hot water will be a heat pump connected to the floor heating system. The house uses all techniques of energy-saving construction (compact shape, sufficient thermal insulation, shielding of glazed areas supplemented by modern technologies such as, for example, an intelligent MaR-measurement and regulation system). The construction of the house should not unnecessarily burden the environment, therefore materials with a lower carbon footprint are chosen for construction.
