ARCHITECTURE
The reconstruction is designed in such a way that it is possible to use the maximum of preserved elements. The original windows and doors, including door frames, will be refurbished. The original wooden plank floors will be preserved in the rooms, the black and white tiles will be restored in the former waiting room. By combining the waiting room with the ticket office, a cafe for 20 people and an open espresso bar will be created, which will also serve guests staying in the hotel. A total of 5 rooms are designed on the second and third floors, where each room has a separate bathroom and a view of the railway line.
SUSTAINABILITY
The original construction and compositions are preserved as much as possible. New lightweight prefabricated partitions are designed in the house, which will be able to be disassembled and recycled after the end of the life cycle. Heat losses are minimized using an insulation system based on ecological thermal insulation. A heat pump and a forced ventilation system with air recovery are newly installed in the building. Rainwater from the roofs will be used to flush the toilets. Biochar will be used in the plantings around the house, which compensates for the emissions associated with the renovation, and the building will thus become carbon neutral.
